Joseph's take...

There are many options to choose from in this category, but for me this is a contender for one of the best hardshells I’ve ever owned. The MILLET Trilogy Icon Gore-Tex Pro jacket accompanies me in the high mountains guiding, alpine climbing, and skiing most days. It’s lightweight and waterproof characteristic creates confidence at a minimal cost. It hosts double chest pockets, which I’m always psyched on for easy access to my phone, sun protection, or for those that know me and my mountain go to’s… Gin Gins! Pit zips to assist with the temp regulation on snow. Really psyched on this one over the last few seasons!
Fit: I wear a Medium in most jackets from MILLET and other brands. The sleeves and torso run true to size to me with a helmet compatible hood, Velcro cuffs to keep snow out, and a skirt that remains under my harness while climbing. The armpits can be tighter at times when layering, so I’d recommend sizing up, if needed.

Guiding ice in my backyard in Salt Lake City in the MILLET Trilogy Icon Jacket and WDS Trousers

Joseph's take...

These are without a doubt my favorite alpine pants! Though not waterproof, I can attest to their water-resistancy and windproof qualities. Whether I’m ice or alpine climbing, I find the MILLET TrilogyIcon Pant to be versatile, regulating aerobic activity on the approach and weathering cold belays with hybrid materials and side vents, which have been particularly difficult for me to find at times in a softshell pant. When partnered with a merino base layer, the pant is quick drying and does a great job on those warmer, wet days on the ice. The reinforced cuff is great for protecting against my crampons and though I wouldn’t use this pant for extended ski outings, it works well for ski approaches to alpine climbs with a zippered cuff that accommodates my lightweight boots.
Fit: The sizing is pretty spot on, I’m a 30in/75cm waist and I wear a SMALL, which coincides with the sizing chart. Regular length at 30 inches plus a cinch cord around the cuff to keep them up. I’d say the pants are trimmer, but not slim. No bagginess, but quite stretchy with a conformed fit, which is quite nice while climbing for me.
