The American Mountain Guides Association requires members to meet certain professional requirements and maintain their membership to be able to participate in its programs and avail themselves of the rights and benefits of membership.

Members are at all times representatives of the AMGA and should conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well on the AMGA. This applies equally whether on AMGA courses, in the mountains with friends or clients, or transacting business with clients or government agencies as well as honoring the beneficial resources that come with your membership.

As an AMGA member, I agree to support high standards of safety and professionalism in mountain guiding and instruction. I understand that the AMGA does not condone guiding without appropriate authorization and that the AMGA does not endorse any illegal guiding, whether in the US. or another country. I also understand that I — or any AMGA member — may be subject to the loss of membership, accreditation, or certification if such practices occur.

Membership in our Pro-Purchase program should be considered a privilege and not a right or entitlement. No matter your qualification or possible connections, guides that do not submit the proper credentials or fail to follow procedures will not be eligible for the program. What may have qualified you in the past may not qualify you in 2008 and beyond.

AMGA Corporate Partners reserve the right to develop their own AMGA Pro-Purchase Program for qualified members. It is crucial that you exist harmoniously with our partners and maintain a professional relationship with them. Failure to honor or abuse our pro-purchase program, for example, purchases for people other than yourself, will result in permanent termination of this privilege.

Please remember that the AMGA, along with its Corporate Partners, works hard to provide qualified mountain guides with the best possible pro program in the world.
